Scoring System

The misinformation and bias rating uses a 0 through 5 system. 5 being the most reliable, and 0 being the most untrustworthy.

 

Each claim made in the text evaluated is rated based on the output of the Google API. If there are any highly controversial claims, they will be flagged. Trivial statements are ignored.

 

The number of flags is used in a ratio of flagged claims to total number of claims. Each sentence of the text passed in is given a tag and a confidence score.

 

Each sentence with a negative tag in terms of bias is flagged. This is used to calculate a ratio of biased sentences to the total number of sentences. These are both taken into consideration for the final overall score.
